- Client Searcy’s
- Project Bar 1802
- Cost £ 280,000
- Sector Leisure
- Location West India Quay – London Docklands
- Date Completed July 2003
- Background
- Founded in the 1840’s, Searcy’s remains a privately owned catering company operating in prestigious venues within London. The aim of the company is to create the perfect culinary experience through innovation and knowledge gained in over 150 years in the industry. L&H Solutions worked successfully with Searcy’s on four separate concept bars and restaurants within the Waterstone’s Flagship branch on Piccadilly in London. As a result L&H Solutions were appointed to work on a new bar concept in the Docklands called 1802.
- The Challenge
- 1802 is located in a grade 2 listed building at the heart of West India Quay, next door to the only Docklands museum in London. As one of the oldest warehouse buildings in the Docklands it was essential to restore the unique floors, timber supports and fabric of the building whilst creating a modern, unique and welcoming leisure environment.
- The Solution
- 1802 is a unique concept environment which has preserved the original characteristics of the building and has been a positive addition to the local community of West India Quay, which is fast becoming the Docklands preferred day out destination. 1802 was completed to budget, on time and most importantly, with the full approval of English Heritage, local residents and the planning department of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
